Interzero rebrands its plastics recycling division and consistently emphasizes a unified brand identity

Berlin/Cologne. On 3 January 2024, Interzero has taken another important step in its corporate and brand development. The successful integration and rebranding of the two subsidiaries ALBA Recycling GmbH and Abfallverwertung Leipzig GmbH affects nearly 600 employees across six different locations in Germany. These subsidiaries represent the most significant and largest segment of plastics recycling within the Interzero Group. 

From now on, both companies will operate uniformly on the market under the brand name Interzero. ALBA Recycling GmbH will be known as Interzero Plastics Sorting GmbH and Abfallverwertung Leipzig GmbH, a successful joint venture with the City of Leipzig, will now operate under the name Interzero Plastics Sorting Leipzig GmbH. The renaming makes it possible to communicate this expertise clearly both externally and internally under the unified umbrella of Interzero, thus creating clarity for employees, customers, partners and the public.  

The core competences of both companies are plastics sorting and plastics recycling. They develop, build and operate five plants in Germany for sorting recyclable materials from the collections of the dual systems. The sorting plants, considered  the most modern in Europe, have a total capacity of 810,000 tonnes per year. At the end of the sorting process, recyclable materials of the highest purity are made available to industries, where they replace raw materials from primary sources.   

In addition, Interzero Plastics Sorting GmbH operates a plant in Eisenhüttenstadt for the production of high-quality recycled plastics from packaging waste collected in the yellow bin/bag. By melting and compacting the input materials, high-quality recycled plastics are produced here tailored to the needs of various industries.
