Interzero is investing in second-life battery storage manufacturer Voltfang

+++ The Aachen-based company Voltfang develops and produces battery storage systems from used electric vehicles batteries for industrial and commercial clients .

+++ Interzero invests in and supports Voltfang’s further growth.

The second-life battery storage manufacturer Voltfang has completed another financing round and Interzero is participating as a strategic investor.

Voltfang develops sustainable battery storage systems and uses battery modules from decommissioned electric vehicles, giving electric car batteries a second life. Among other benefits, the Aachen-based company enables its customers to increase energy efficiency and achieve sustainability goals. Many industrial and commercial clients, such as ALDI, McDonald’s, and the construction company GOLDBECK, rely on Voltfang's innovative battery storage systems. Voltfang offers its clients individual solutions that are designed to optimise self-consumption of solar power (PV), reduce peaks in their energy consumption, or provide emergency power, according to customer requirements. In addition to industrial and commercial clients, Voltfang also targets grid operators and electricity producers offering battery storage systems with capacities of up to 40 MWh for clients in the grid-scale sector.

With the investment, Interzero acquires a minority stake and becomes part of the group of shareholders. The round is led by the Dutch DeepTech VC investor FORWARD.One, with additional participation VC investors PT1, AENU, and Helen Ventures.

The investment is in line with Interzero's vision of a ‘world without waste’: Reuse and second-life concepts are important tools on the road to zero waste. In addition to the financial investment, Interzero is also supporting the young company with its own expertise in the circular economy and its broad network.

The investment is being made via the family office of shareholder and Chairman Dr. Axel Schweitzer.
