Interzero supports ALBA JUGEND with 150,000 euros to celebrate its 18th birthday

+++ Interzero donates to celebrate 18 years of ALBA JUGEND

+++ Sports club fulfils important social function

+++ Sustainable youth work needs a stable financial basis

ALBA JUGEND is celebrating its 18th anniversary and Interzero is celebrating alongside the club. The Berlin basketball club ALBA BERLIN has been investing in youth development for 18 years and can now boast the largest basketball youth programme in the country. Interzero is supporting this long-term commitment with a donation of 150,000 euros at the end of the anniversary season.

Today, Germany's largest and most successful basketball club is already moving more than 15,000 children and young people. The idea: to enable young people to participate more in society through sport, to create low-threshold leisure activities and to initiate positive self-awareness through exercise. The club's many successful projects include the primary school league as well as the basketball club programme as part of "ALBA macht Schule" and "ALBAs tägliche Sportstunde", a YouTube participatory programme that has inspired children across Germany, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

Interzero, which is also the main sponsor and environmental partner of the ALBA BERLIN professional team, is specifically supporting ALBA JUGEND with the donation to celebrate 18 years of successful youth programmes.

"ALBA JUGEND makes an outstanding contribution to society and has developed into an important social player over the past 18 years. In its multifaceted youth work, the club employs over 120 youth coaches who get around 15,000 children moving every week — in Berlin, throughout Germany and, with the international programme, also in Hong Kong and Singapore. The combination of successful women's and men's teams at the top and innovative and sustainable sports promotion across the board makes ALBA BERLIN a unique programme not only in terms of sport, but also socially throughout Germany. We would like to support this and congratulate ALBA JUGEND on its anniversary," says Dr Axel Schweitzer, Chairman of Interzero.
