ALDI SÜD wins international award for innovative packaging solutions

After winning the German Packaging Award, ALDI SÜD receives another award for its TANDIL 3-in-1 box: The detergent packaging, made up of 92 per cent recycled material, has been honoured with the WorldStar Award. Presented by the World Packaging Organisation, this award stands as one of the most prestigious international recognitions for innovative packaging solutions.

ALDI SÜD has won the WorldStar Award from the World Packaging Organisation with its TANDIL 3-in-1 box. The retailer won the award in the household category. "We are proud that our TANDIL 3-in-1 box has now also been recognised by an international jury of packaging experts. This shows that we are on the right track with our goal of continuously increasing the use of recycled material in our product packaging. We want to continue on this path consistently,'' says Alexander Markov, Managing Director National Supply Chain Management at ALDI SÜD.

As part of the ALDI packaging mission, the discounter is constantly increasing the proportion of recycled materials in its own-brand product packaging to make them as environmentally friendly as possible. The targeted use of recycled plastic from the yellow bag or yellow bin in the detergent packaging for TANDIL 3-in-1 Active Caps and Colour Caps was an important step in this direction. The packaging consists of 92 per cent recycled polypropylene and was developed as part of the strategic partnership between ALDI and the dual system Interseroh+, operated by the recycling service provider Interzero.

About the WorldStar Award: The prize awarded by the World Packaging Organisation is considered one of the most important international recognitions for innovative packaging solutions. This year, 435 entries from 41 countries were received. The prerequisite for participation in the WorldStar Award is a previous honour with a national packaging award. ALDI SÜD qualified with its TANDIL 3-in-1 box by winning the German Packaging Award 2023. The official award ceremony will take place on June 15, 2024, in Bangkok.
